Should we love the person who doesn't love us back?

There are times when we love someone but that person doesn't love us back. Is love unconditional?? Should we expect the other person to love us in return? isn't it possible to love a person within our heart without expecting the other person to love us back? What is true love?? does true love keep expectations from other person to love back?
