Me and my guy have never physically faught but we do make verbal attacks at one another?

after we're calm we miss each oterh and want to see one another. Today, he realy pissed me off and I called him a child molester. what I said was wrong but it was an appropriate insult considering he purposely tried to piss me off. what should I do? dumping him would seem like the smart thing to do, but if you're in a relationshiop, are you so easily able to dump somone and move on
