What is a nuclear meltdown?

nuclear meltdown is a worst case scenario. If it is to happen radiation will leak and the outlook for japan will be dimmer than it already is..i live in florida approximately 37 miles from the crystal river power plant and if i could as soon as a warning was to come out....run like hell!!!
