How long did it take you to feel better after a marriage ended?

I moved out cause my husband hurt me and my oldest son. It was something that went on for awhile but i always hoped he would change. I know stupid. I moved out hoping he would get help instead after about 6 weeks he got on yahoo personals and found a girlfriend. Now he does not want us.
