Questions about pilonidal cyst surgery?

I have had 2 lancings done in 3 years for drainage and such and now i am going back to get it taken out. I have been googleing some images and such and have seen some pretty nasty pictures. I was just wondering if thats what i should expect. I didnt go back to the doc for questions yet so i figured i would just see on here, but he did tell me if there was no infection during the surgery it would just be stiched closed. Should i be expecting those giant cuts i have been seeing on the internet and a long healing time?
