Format requirements for writing and editorial?

I have written an article, which a friend described as an editorial. Righ now it is in mcript style. Before I send it to a magazine I would like to know if there is such a thing as an editorial format. I have searched the web but can't find this information. The writing is finished but I don't want to send it in mcript style if this is not correct. Thank you for your help.
